Design is increasingly being recognised as important for national competitiveness. However, to date there has been no comprehensive collation of available data to enable reliable comparison between nations in terms of performance in design. This report provides a framework for measuring national design capability and brings together the best available data for 12 countries and their design capabilities.
The report has the following aims:
* To provide an initial comparison of nations’ design capability based on currently available data
* To highlight the challenges in comparing data from different nations
* To develop a framework to enable ongoing data collection and international comparison.
