The mission of designers: make people happy

Kunimoto Katsushi, chairman/professor at Nagoya City University says, « designers have to make people happy. This is how we see the role of designers. It’s more than a role, it’s a mission. In Japan we’re moving towards a knowledge economy, we are giving up production. At school, designers draw less and less. We teach them more and more to think and write.»

Reminder – This month’s question for designers: In which design domain(s) are you active? (see here)
In a couple of days, EDTI registered dozens of participants in the survey ‘In which design domain(s) are you active?’. You can access the results at www.edti.eu in the ‘Survey’ area. We encourage you to take part in this survey: The broader the participation, the more relevant the results.

This survey intends to highlight the design domains in which designers and people active in design are practicing, the patterns of change within these domains and how they develop their knowledge, skills and competence levels. We thank you in advance for your collaboration.
